Montalcino & Siena

Montalcino is a hill town  in Tuscany located to the west of Pienza, close to the Crete Senesi in Val d'Orcia Italy.

It is famous for its Brunello di Montalcino wine, an aristocratic red wine produced with Sangiovese grapes of the same name. Everything revolves around wine-production here, as you will see from the numerous shops and wine-bars where you can taste and buy Brunello.The Rocca is a very imposing castle enclosed by walls with angular towers. In the center of town there a 3 churches: Sant'Agostino, Sant'Egidio, and the Duomo. 

Discover Siena visiting the Piazza del Campo, the square where the world famous folkloristic event called Palio Horse Racing takes place twice a year during the summer.Explore this fan-shaped, gently sloping square lined with marvellous buildings such as the City Hall, erected in the 13th century, and the Torre Del Mangia bell tower, rising 102 meters high. The Sansedoni Palace and the Gaiai Fountain are also close by.

Enjoy the exterior views of the gothic-style Duomo of Siena dating back to the 12th century and the Battistero, both adorned with a variety of frescoes, sculptures and painting masterpieces created by some of Italy’s most famous artists.
